Since I was a wee lady, I’ve always had an animal obsession. I’ve loved many horses and many more kitties and puppies than I could remember. Even now in the shop, I spend all day with my Westie, Miss Leila Loo, by my side. I can be found at the barn most late evenings riding and often making pictures of farm life.
I grew up in Finchville, Kentucky where my parents still reside on the thoroughbred horse farm that I grew up on. What a blessing it was to look out the window each morning and see fields full of horses. Beautiful imagery was everywhere, and it was there that I got my start in photography. I began shooting pictures of the horses at home until my junior year in high school, when I had the opportunity to photograph the Kentucky Derby and Oaks for Churchill Downs’ publications. My love for shooting increased and the possibility of photography as a career became very real as I shot beside many talented, industry-leading photojournalists.
Now that people and portraits are the majority of my work, photographing horses and other animals has become more of a hobby. In the studio, we sell greeting cards and prints of the work, and also have the images online for purchase. Feel free to head over and take a look at some of the work. The gallery is updated all the time!
