Gotcha Day

Whether it’s in the first few weeks or up to 9 months after you got to bring your child home, I am both pumped and honored to photograph your growing family.  Having images of your child when they first become part of your family is not only amazing for seeing growth and change so quickly, but the power of a family photograph is so solidifying.  Hanging over your dining room table, the family photograph stands for so much more than joy, love and togetherness, rather inclusion, grace and acceptance.  It is my priority to create images that not only share the emotion of your right now, but to create images that are real and true-to-life at this point in your relationships.

Celebrating adoption sessions are the same as family sessions.  Through and through, we absolutely treat every step the same.  We will have a consultation to discuss a location, what you’ll all wear and we’ll be shooting at a location of your choice, for around an hour.  And no stress, the hour is flexible.  I understand that you all are still getting to know one another and meltdowns happen when we dress kids up and expect them to smile and be attentive at a new place, with a new lady.  It’s ok.  We’ll be flexible, we’ll play games, we’ll snack on snacks and you can count on me to be patient through the language barriers, the inattention and the smiles, of course.  I hope you’ll find that we all fall in love with one another.

So what’s the catch?  There isn’t one.  I have felt called since my early teenage years to build a family through adoption, and once I find a husband, you can count on following my crazy mommy blog.  Until then, I want to provide a gift to your family.  Adoption is financially exhausting, but the power of family and individual portraits in your lives shouldn’t be.  Your session fee is waived – all $250 of it.  All you’ll be paying for are prints and products.  Upon your booking, you will submit a nominal deposit to guarantee us both that you’ll be there.  This deposit will be held on your account and applied to any print/product orders you make.

After your portrait session, we’ll choose a time when you’ll come into the studio for an ordering appointment.  Your images will be hosted online for family and friends to view and order from, too.  During your ordering, I will help you choose the best products and print options to meet your needs.  We’ve learned that our signature DVD of all your images is quite popular among our adoptive families, so you can keep all your yummy images in a custom display case for a discounted rate, if you choose.

One day I hope to be able to offer every step of our celebrating adoption sessions as a gift – maybe by then you’ll be bringing home your next baby.  And yes, the journalism heart I have, would love to come photograph you meeting your family at the airport.  I’m even looking for a family to fly with on their grand adventure; photographing all the way, of course!
