Bernheim Arboretum Forest Wedding | Sarah & David

This sweet wedding has me falling in love with small ceremonies and outdoorsy locations.  I have had the privilege of being Sarah's friend for many years now and I'll be honest - editing this (and shooting it!) had me bleary eyed more than once.  There are so many images that capture her personality and the way she makes others feel.  I love so much that Sarah both knows what she wants and is completely intentional about how she interacts with people and how they walk away from her feeling.

Their day started at Forest Edge Winery where the ladies got ready and we made a few portraits.  The ladies then moved over to Bernheim's grounds where the guys had previously met up for photos.  The ceremony location was set up near the water, in the Quiet Garden.  So great.  I loved how there were chairs to commemorate missing family members, grass for kids to sit and play in and standing room still, for others.  There wasn't a dry eye in the place once their friend Mike, who married them, spoke on behalf of their late parents and how each would be so pleased that Sarah and David found such wonderful mates in one another.  Agreed!  A couple beautiful vows later and a kiss that sealed the deal and we were off to hop around the 15,000+ acre park to make beautiful portraits.  I'm obviously partial, but these images feel like David and Sarah do when you're around them - light, joyful, easy and beautiful.

In a glass room, amongst the tress - with a neat artsy swing installation - Sarah and David's closest friends and family came together for dinner and celebration.  It was such a sweet time of family enjoying one another and all of their people getting to meet and celebrate.  The toasts were so dear and the dances even sweeter, but the little note from Sarah's late father that was written for her wedding day had us all choked up.  I love how many stories I hear of Sarah's Dad and his love for their family - so sweet to see him there, celebrating in the note he left.

It's so hard to not use a million !!! and 'it was just so great' but it really was just so fantastic.  David is a great match for my dear friend and their wedding day was not only beautiful but it leaked love out of all the right places and I think the other guests would agree that we left feeling refreshed and encouraged.  Enjoy these sweet images of dear friends to a lot of folks.
