Alex & Maggie | Gheens Foundation Lodge Winter Wedding
Oh, winter, there's something magical about you, even without the snow. When Maggie tossed in a heap of plaid, tree stumps and that beautiful lace gown on top of the cold, there's something an added cuddly for this wedding. These images are cozy to me. Nearly as cozy, I hope, as spending the day amongst Alex and Maggie's people. We started out with the guys at their hotel and the ladies getting prepared at the lodge. Family and friends abounded as they put the finishing touches on the reception space. So many little details and projects that they gladly tied together. Love the way family can set up that strong, sweet community at a wedding.
Before Maggie pulled on her gown the lady crew was easygoing and joyful. After? Those ladies were encouraging, prayerful and just a delight on a windy, winter afternoon. Before the ceremony, we did a quick note exchange between Alex and Maggie and before you know it, she was heading down the aisle on her Daddy's arm. They included family, young and old, in their ceremony. The couple assembled a cross in the spirit of the typical unity candle, received a blessing and a dip with the kiss before they headed down the aisle, arm in arm - grins warm enough to warm the whole place up.
I so enjoyed the time we had to make portraits outside. It was certainly chilly, but those bare, winter trees fit in perfectly with their theme, accenting Maggie's plaid coat perfectly. The evening wrapped up with a pie-cut, dozens on mini-pies and a wonderful BBQ spread enjoyed by all. Their crew danced and rejoiced alongside them, just as they should. My hope is that these images are as easygoing and cozy as the wedding day, itself, was. So excited for you, Maggie, after living similar lives in our little town - that the Lord brought you a sweet, encouraging man who desires to love and protect you as he's commanded to. Many years of shared pie to you both. Enjoy!
