Gallrein Farms Wedding | Rachel and Wes | Oldie, but Goodie
Sweet Rachel and Wes were married earlier this year at First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Ky. I adored that she chose to get ready in her family's funeral home. Before you get skeptical about that, just check out these images. Shannon's has been in their family for 150 years and the front of the home is just a beautiful, old house. So sweet to make portraits in a place where there family has so faithfully served our community and it was gorgeous, to boot. I really enjoyed the joy of their day. The sweet event of marrying off the first of your daughters, rejoicing amongst friends and being married by someone close to the family. I also quite enjoyed getting to know Wes and Rachel's friends more throughout the day. She's been a dear friend to me for a few years, but I missed out on her dating days - so seeing Wes's encouraging ease with Rachel and her people was refreshing. He was always near to lend a hand, got a bit quiet and nervous before their first look and shed a few tears when he saw his bride. Loved that.
As for Rachel, she was ever the picture of poise. Always greeting folks with a smile and an interested word about each person, as is her family's way. She looked amazing and so classic in her gown. This was definitely a wedding where I needed my tissues to keep photographing after her walk down the aisle and had to trust my skills to make images when I was too teary to see clearly.
Their reception at Gallrein Farm's really transformed the space and made it into an elegant, yet comfortable gathering for all their family and friendly. Was certainly a great transformation for the pavillion to get all dolled up. I also just adore the farm's options for making portraits. So many great spaces and that glowly, early spring light. Worth checking out, future brides!
