Woot, woot! It's super, fabulous Monday again. Hope you all had fantastic weekends! Mine was crazy busy, visiting with friends who were in town, celebrating birthdays, painting my kitchen and cheering on my friend, Abby Rigney, as she completed the Ironman. Now, this Ironman - it's serious stuff, and that may be the understatement of the year. I didn't get on the scene until she had finished up her swim and was transitioning out of the 100+ mile bike ride. I met up with her sweet parents, Nancy and Bob at the second street bridge, where she apparently (we're guessing) ran right by me and I didn't even notice. Then we made a little trek down by the racetrack to try and find her. And let me tell you, we watched these folks running by with smiles on. BIG 'OLE SMILES. In case you're confused and by some act of God I ever do an Ironman, do not expect a smile.
When we finally spotted Abby heading back towards Fourth Street on her first loop she was smiling and laughing at us. Asking where her brother and Dad were (on his way + in the Starbucks tracking her online), how we were doing and how her friend, Justin (also Ironmanning) was doing. Really incredible. I mean the girl just swam 2.4 miles, had ridden her bike for 112 miles and was asking how we were as she was a few miles into her marathon-distance run. My only regret is that I couldn't stay to watch her cross the finish line. That must have been such a rewarding feeling for her.
And since I was lame and took no picture of Abby while she walked by, here is an outtake from her family session last week. I was showing her what to do and she clearly was already doing a much better version of it. Happy Monday, my friends!
