Hospice of the Bluegrass Fundraiser
It all started at the Celebration of Lights last fall. Each store was to do a drawing, so Lizzie Loo added one for a family session and their winning was the start of my sweet friendship with the Broughton's. We made some sweet Christmas cards and I would see them at school from time to time. Early this spring Candi contacted me about fundraising for the Hospice of the Bluegrass's new office buildings. We sat down for lunch and fleshed out a plan to spend a Saturday on mini-sessions. $75 got the participants 10 prints and a $50 donation to Hospice of the Bluegrass. Together, we earned $700 for this great organization! Thank goodness for skills that can do more than create! I had a great time getting to meet all of the sweet families and fun children - it even reminded me that photographing kids isn't that bad - it might even be a growing passion of mine :)
Take a chance to checkout the Hospice website and get familiar with their services. I spent the whole day with these folks and learned tons about all of the GREAT things that they offer to families. As our population ages, hospice organizations are soo much more important and necessary. Not only do they offer care to families, but they offer extensive bereavement couseling options, running as a non-profit on donations. Many of us have been touched by the kindness of a hospice organization's services. Consider how you can help to give back to such a great pillar in our communities. Enjoy!
