Rebecca + West | Somerset Wedding

What a sweet drive it is to Somerset from Shelbyville.  I had the pleasure of making the trek there a bit ago for Becky and West's gorgeous backyard wedding.  They were wed in the lawn at her parent's home; so perfect.  Tucked into the woods, their home had so much charm and so many sweet places that spoke to it being integral to her childhood.  A playhouse, a paddleboat in the lake, little chalkboard arrows and an open warmth that kept all their closest friends and family dry until it was time for the ceremony. Becky and West had their honorary bridesmaids and groomsman wear grey dresses and suits which I just loved.  And Becky made many of the things used to decorate, her brothers and mother were busy assembling the tent when I arrived and the sweetest part of all was the lit dance floor on their driveway.  I'm a sucker for all things personal, sweet and genuine and their wedding was no exception.

There were so many doctors present, I certainly felt at ease.  Nearly all of West's groomsman and Becky's family were either doctors, surgeons, optometrists...  If they didn't already, everyone got a chance to know one another as we mingled in the house for about an hour while it poured down rain outside.  Neither Becky or West were bothered by the rain, just glad to be in the company of good friends.  Sure enough, the rain stopped just before the last bit of sunlight disappeared and we were able to have a wedding followed by dancing and toasts.  At the end of the night, their guests were whisked away for a weekend on Lake Cumberland.  Such a fantastic idea to rent two houseboats and bring everyone along to enjoy the celebration together.

West and Becky, you have the sweetest of families and friends - I hope you continue to make rainy days sunshiny.  It was a joy to spend time with your family and help to make your day great. Enjoy!
